General accreditation guidelines for journalists attending trade fairs in Germany
As trade fair organisers, we wish to make it easier for journalists to access information about our events and our company by means of accreditation. Accreditation is done exclusively for the purpose of journalistic reporting. The following people are entitled to press accreditation:
a) by presenting a named article, in original copy, which is no more than six months old at the time of the event;
b) by presenting a publication imprint, original copy, in which they are named as an editor, permanent editorial staff member or author, which is no more than six months old at the time of the event;
c) by presenting a written commission from an editorial office, original copy, relating to the current trade fair;
d) by showing a website link to an online publication they have authored themselves and which is established in the trade fair community concerned. In such cases, accreditation must be done in advance because more work is needed to verify it;
e) by presenting a document, no more than six months old, showing that they work for a school magazine; or by presenting a valid youth press organisation identity document.
In addition, the trade fair organiser reserves the right to demand further proof of any visitor's status as a journalist, even if a press identity card has been presented. Legitimation documents should be in German or English. The trade fair organiser reserves the right in individual cases to request a valid personal identity document with photograph. No person may demand an absolute right to accreditation. The trade fair organiser is entitled to exercise its authority over who may or may not enter the premises.
